Off Site Back Up/ Disaster Recovery

Off Site Back Up

Recent hurricanes have brought national attention the importance of off site back ups and disaster recovery. Medical Records along with financial data in numerous hospitals and medical clinics alike have been lost and/or completely destroyed along the gulf coast. Medical facilities are not able to process insurance claims, generate statements or access medical records simply no offsite backup or disaster recovery plans were implemented. In response, MDnetwork has developed an offsite backup and disaster recovery solution that's easy to implement.

Easy

Automated, offsite backups that requires no human interaction. MDnetwork's Online/Offsite Backup can even backup files that are in use, so the backup operation can be performed at any time of the day, or multiple times per day. Routine tasks that have to be performed manually before other backup software can be run are automated by the MDnetwork Online Backup system, making backup truly effortless. Restoring files is also easier than ever before. Files from any day's backup in the previous 30 days are always just a few mouse clicks away. That means no more digging for backup tapes to recover that file that someone just realized has been corrupted for weeks. The backup client controls all processes, thus the network administrator has full control of the backup and restore procedures.

Fast

With every backup, MDnetwork's Online Backup software scans the backup set to find which files have changed. Then the software checks the new version of the file against the previous version to find out exactly which part of the file has changed. This portion of the file is compressed, encrypted, and uploaded to MDnetwork's Backup Servers. Backup sets using this method are often up to 6 times smaller than backup sets created with the Delta Block technology used by other backup vendors. All of this means that a minimum of information is transferred over the Internet, making backups incredibly fast.

Secure

Before any backup set is sent over the Internet, it is encrypted using the triple-DES security algorithm. This locks the data so that it can only be retrieved using the password determined by the network admin at setup time. The backup client remembers this password so that files can be unlocked transparently, even though they are in encrypted format from the time they are transmitted until they are restored by the end user. Since each backup transmits only portions of files, and these are encrypted using a very strong algorithm, network administrators can be confident that their data will be safe from prying eyes.

Reliable

MDnetwork's backup servers employ redundancy in every aspect, from RAID hard drives to hot-swappable power supplies. This ensures that the files are always available, and always current. Tape backups can be spotty in their reliability. Backups using MDnetwork Online Backup can be viewed at any time for assurance that what needs to be backed up is getting done properly. Customers can also choose to have a CD set of their data sent to them every 30 days, extending the window of time that files can be restored and supplementing the archival qualities of MDnetwork Online Backup.
